BÚISÉIR—XIIBoucher, Bossher, Bowcher, Busher, Bussher, etc.; Norman 'le boucher,' i.e., the butcher. Families of this name settled soon after the Anglo-Norman invasion in the counties of Kilkenny, Carlow and Wexford. The name came in again in the 16th century. The older families spell the name with sh instead of ch. The corresponding English surname is Butcher.
