De Nás
de NÁS—XI—de Naas, Nash, Naish; Norman 'de Naas,' i.e., of Naas in Co. Kildare; a surname taken by an early Anglo-Norman family from their place of settlement; now confused with, and absorbed by, de Nais, which see. It is possible also that, owing to false analogy, it has, by a process the reverse of that which took place in the case of de Nais (see above), been corrupted to 'de As,' 'de Asse,' and so may now be sometimes represented by Ashe. (see Ághas).
